Is there any particular reason Sinklars Visa was removed from YouTube?

Has anyone here heard Folque's Sinclairvise, it's a great song as well - if you '70s folk rock!

I wonder why the placenames "Vågå" and "Lesja" are misspelled in the song. They are spelled as "Lesje" and "Våge"

I don't know if I have been driven through Lesja, but I've been driven through Lom when I was in Norway in 2006. Unfortunately I had no time to make a stop.

Yes we do actually.I`m talking about whoever wrote the song, not this version by Tyr.It is misspelled in the original.Maybe som danish spelling, who knows?
They used to write norwegian placenames different than they where, cause they couldn`t pronounce the norwegian.Danes have great difficulty pronouncing certain norwegian words:

It doesn't matter when we are talking about ballads. It is the pronounciation of the last person who recited it for whoever wrote it down which counts. Names are always a pain in the ass in ballads that have survived in the Faroese folklore - but it is the version in question which is the valid one.

It is not a big deal,i just wondered about it (i have a curios nature) Wink

Seems that i was right,it is an old danish way of spelling it.I found a document here where it is spelled that way:

" Kongelig Resolution, at der fremdeles, som hidtil, bliver, til Postens Befordring mellem Sells Postaabneri og Vaage samt Lombs Præstegjelde i Gudbrandsdalens Fogderi, Christians Amt, at afgive værnepliktige Mandskaber til Brevdragere, og at de saaledes afgivendes Mandskabers Antal for Eftertiden skal være sex".

As you've guessed, they are not misspellings. They're merely the older Danish versions of the Norwegian names, seing as how the ballad is in Danish. It's characteristic that where Norway and Swedish have both preserved -a in final, unstressed syllables, Danish has everywhere reduced final -a to -e. Thus where Swedish and Nynorsk have "tala", Danish has "tale".

Yeah,i know this.Funny that it is still, in the very conservative upper class in Oslo A endings are concidered vulgar Laughing
There is said that in the dialect in Bærum (a very posh area),there are only three words ending with A ,and that is "mamma" "pappa" and "visa" Laughing

Aparently Sinklars Visa found its way onto YouTube again. I'm debating reporting it, as it appears to be the real version, but with it being on the promo-CD, its hard to say Confused

Any suggestions?

In most places around the world the scots are thought of as the victims! mostly of the English, but we know thats not true! the scots were a savage race capable of the same destruction as any other country in war tyms, look what they did to the poor Picts! i am glad im not scottish and shetland isnt scottish(just a pity we ended up in thier hands), this song wil b hated in scotland!! as they are so fanatical about being the innocent victims and how dare somebody make them out to b bad people!! HAIL! the mighty TYR and HAIL! to NORWAY!
