Wow! Thanks for that new bit, really looking forward to the album, can hardly wait. Only thing I'm disappointed about is the fact that the album comes out after I see them in the US, but oh well,w e can't have everything we want. |

Well, that sure should boost their popularity in Norway! Great ballad.

Hr. Sinklar drog over salten hav,
til norrig hans kurs monne stande;
blandt gudbrands klipper han fandt sin grav,
der vanked så blodig en pande.

| Wow, I am in love with that song! Is there a way to pre-order the new album? I can't even buy it here in any store! |

Woooow! Thank you! I've been waiting so long to hear news
I'm very thrilled that they did Herr Sinklars vísa. It's such a great song. I love the couple of different versions I have already by other artists. _________________ Ríða teir út av Fraklandi

This is about "skottetoget".Where 500 scotsmen tried to cross Norway to help the swedes fight the norwegians.And where stupid enough to start looting farms on their way across Norway.They where beaten at a battle at Kringen in Gudbrandsdalen,where 370 of them where killed.The rest of them exept 14 was executed on the spot:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Kringen
http://www.rejsende.dk/norge/skottetoget.htm
There is a couple of great quotes from this event:
"So vere vigd til Hel kvar rædde svikarsjæl, i Norigs land! Kvar den som trulaust for i verk og svikfullt ord mot heim og fedra-jord dømd vere han! Hæng han i næste tre! grav han som pestfængd ned på ubygd øy! Og ingen gravstein grå på denne haugen stå! Hans namn i gløyme gå, hans minne døy!"
LOVE IT ,JUST LOVE IT!!!!

Here`s the whole song:
Sinklars vísa
1. Hr. Sinklar drog over Salten hav,
mod Norrig hans kurs monne stande;
blandt Gudbrands klipper han fandt sin grav,
der vanked så blodig en pande.
Vel op før dag
de kommer vel over den hede.
2. Hr. Sinklar drog over bølgen blå
for svenske penge at stride:
Hjælpe dig Gud, du visselig må
i Græsset for normanden bide.
3. Månen skinner om natten bleg,
de vove så sagtelig trille;
en havfru op af vandet steg,
hun spåede Hr. Sinklar ilde:
4. "Vend om, vend om, du skotske mand!
det gælder dit liv så fage;
5. "Led er din sang, du giftige trold,
altidens du spår om ulykker;
fanger jeg dig engang i min vold,
jeg lader dig hugge i stykker."
6. Han sejled i dage, han sejled i tre
med alt sit hyrede følge,
den fjerde morgen han Norrig mon se,
jeg vil det ikke fordølge.
7. Ved Romsdals kyster han styred i land,
erklærede sig for en fjende;
ham fulgte efter fjorten hundrede mand,
som alle havde ondt i sinde.
al folkeret monne de krænke;
oldingens afmagt rørte ej dem,
de spotted den grædende enke.
9. Barnet blev dræbt i moderens skød,
så mildelig det end smiled;
rygtet om denne jammer og nød til
til kærnen af landet iled.
10. Bavnen lyste og budstikken løb
fra grande til nærmeste grande;
dalens sønner i skjul ej krøb,
det måtte hr. Sinklar sande.
11. Soldaten er ude på kongens tog,
vi må selv landet forsvare;
forbandet være det niddingsdrog,
som nu sit blod vil spare."
12. De bønder af Våge, Lesje og Lom
med skarpe økser på nakke
i Bredebøjgd tilsammen kom,
med skotten vilde de snakke.
13. Tæt under lide der løber en sti,
som man mon kringen kalde;
Lågen skynder sig der forbi;
i den skal Fjenderne falde.
14. Riflen hænger ej mer på væg,
hist sigter gråhærdede skytte;
nøkken opløfter sit våde skæg
og venter med længsel sit bytte.
15. Det første skud hr. Sinklar gjaldt,
han brøled og opgav sin ånde;
hver skott råbte, da obersten faldt:
"Gud fri os af denn vånde!"
16. "Frem bønder, frem, I norske mænd,
slår ned, slår ned for fode!"
Da ønsked sig skotten hjem igen,
han var ej ret lystig til mode.
17. Med døde kroppe blev kringen strø´d
de ravne fik nok at æde, -
det ungdomsblod, som der udflød,
de skotske piger begræde.
18. Ej nogen levende sjæl kom hjem,
som kunde sin landsmand fortælle,
hvor farligt det er at besøge dem,
der bo blandt Norriges fjælde.

Not a living soul returned,
to tell his folk back home
how dangerous it is to visit those
who live between Norway's mountains...
Oh man! I foresee a lot of patriotic Norwegian retorics in the future.
We have to find some Finns - they are the only ones who can shout as loud.

By the way! I just noticed that Týr uses both tune variants in the song. That is really great.

I know. It is a fantastic ballad to get really pissed off by. It is funny to watch the old men in the dance ring, when they come to the part where the children and women are killed, and the part where the Norwegians attack. That really makes them red in the face and the voices louder.

Wow, I would LOVE to see that. Do you ever meet up with the guys at Fótatraðk? I've been wanting to go there, but I guess I'm to shy to go there on my own.
For the rest of you: I've taken the liberty of collecting the verses sung by Týr and put them on a page with the video here.
On another note: Where did this song come from? Who got a hold of it? Wherefrom? Is there a high quality mp3 out there somewhere? _________________ Ríða teir út av Fraklandi
